Hey, it’s Chuck flagship personal project, a review blog focusing on dining in the Kansas City area! Started in 2019, the website is growing in popularity and has spun off a newsletter and a forthcoming podcast.
Finding American
This website has 50 photo essays on immigrants who are living in the United States by photojournalist Colin Boyd Shafer. The book version of the project was published in late 2023.

Wethos
Wethos is a micro agency based in New York that puts nonprofit organizations and businesses in touch with carefully curated teams of freelancers who have skills in web design, web development, social media marketing, content creation, brand strategy and more.
Chuck was the web developer for the re-design of the company’s website, which launched in August 2019.
Repeat Roses
Repeat Roses is a nonprofit that “transforms your event arrangements into bouquets that brighten hospitals, nursing homes, and shelters.”
Chuck developed workflows and processes for a new service that Repeat Roses was launching. He worked on integrations that involved Salesforce, Mailchimp, Squarespace, Zapier and digital signature services.
The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights
The Policing Campaign is a set of websites which provides resources, information and tools to communities engaged in policing reforms.
Chuck was the web developer for the Toolkit part of the project.
Richard Rice Law
Richard Rice Law is a law firm located in Kansas City that specializes in personal injury law.
Chuck re-designed their website, which launched in October 2019.
Kids With Courage Foundation
Kids With Courage Foundation provides information and resources to families with children who have been newly diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. The website helps organize volunteers, helps people donate money, and provides information about programs, resources and events. We also provide web support gratis as part of our commitment to assisting community groups, projects and campaigns.
iLeadsMedia
iLeadsMedia is a targeted leads generation service located in Kansas City.
Bread and Roses provided web design and development for the company’s website in 2019.
Blue Nile Cafe
In 2017, we launched a new look for this popular Ethiopian restaurant in Kansas City, Missouri. Bread & Roses designed the original site for the restaurant in 2008. We also run their social media promotions and handle their print materials.
Seeburg Mufflers
In 2020, created and developed a website for this local muffler and exhaust services shop.
KC Outdoor Structure
Designed and created this website in 2020 for this Kansas City residential outdoor contracting company.
Precious Metals and Gems
In 2019 and 2020, created a website for this local precious metals dealer. Later worked with a designer to overhaul the website for SEO and digital marketing.
V.I. Source
In 2016-2017, we migrated the three online newspapers from Drupal 6 to WordPress and set up a new design and improved functionality. The Source websites get around 80,000-90,000 unique visitors per month, 6 million page requests per year, and around 1.05 million unique visitors a year.
We provided website development and 24/7 support & maintenance for the newspaper from 2009-2017.
Sustainable Soils
We developed this website for a local entrepreneur who puts together custom soil prescriptions for farmers, ranchers and home gardeners. The website explains the services offered, provides a FAQ, and is designed to have customers contact the owner to arrange for services. Website includes a blog that is updated monthly. We also provide monthly web maintenance and SEO services.
Diastole Scholar’s Center
The Diastole Center is a non-profit space located adjacent to the UMKC Medical School and associated with the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The center serves primarily as an events space and retreat for the university, but it is also known for its art collection.
HIVandHepatitis.com
In 2013, Bread and Roses developed a new website for this prominent health news website. HIVandHepatitis.com publishes daily news on new research in the fields of HIV, Hepatitis, and related diseases. They frequently report from conferences held around the world, so special sections on conferences was a big priority. We migrated an older version of the website to Joomla, a content management system like WordPress and Drupal.
Murray Company
The Murray Company provides construction management for hospitals and healthcare organizations based in the Midwest. We developed a new website for them which showcased the projects they’ve managed.
Nell Hills
Nell Hills is a popular furniture and home furnishings store with two locations in Kansas City and Atchison, Kansas. We developed a new website for them based on an artist’s design. While they originally wanted just a new website promoting the stores, we convinced them to include the blog that the owner had been publishing for years. This blog was already a WordPress site, so we upgraded that site, keeping the dozens of blog posts, and based the new design and features on it.
JMA-IT
We were brought on site for a contract that involved creating a new website for this company that provides computer networking for corporations. Worked with staff to come up with branding and theming for the website. WordPress was used for the project.
